A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded in New York after a missing woman was found dead, her body stuffed inside a suitcase and abandoned by the roadside.
Pamela Alcantara, 26, had vanished just days before, leaving her family desperate for answers. Surveillance footage showed her on the phone with her mother late at night, and her final words were chilling: “Mom, I just want you to pray for me.”

Her remains were discovered Thursday near the border of Yonkers and the Bronx, bringing a devastating end to the frantic search that followed her disappearance. According to WABC-TV, Alcantara was in the process of moving out of an apartment she had shared with her ex-boyfriend.
The couple had been together for three years before she decided to leave, but family members suspect he became aware of her plans.
Her cousin, Naysa Peguero, claimed he had been spying on her. “He put recording devices on her car and in the bedroom,” Peguero alleged.
Adding to the mystery, Alcantara’s Facebook page had been stripped down. “The only thing she has was her profile picture up,” Peguero noted.

Alcantara was deeply connected to her family and faith. She frequently spoke to her mother and was active in her church community. She had planned to attend a church event in Connecticut on Sunday, but when she failed to show up, alarm bells rang.
Worried, her family searched her apartment on Monday. What they found was unsettling—the bedroom was in disarray, but the rest of the space was oddly tidy.
Their worst fears were confirmed days later when her body was found crammed into a red suitcase.
The discovery has left her loved ones devastated. “She was only 26 years old,” a grieving relative told News12. “She still had her whole life ahead of her.”
One family member described the shock as feeling like “cold water pouring towards you right now.”

Sources told The New York Post that Alcantara’s ex-boyfriend has since been arrested after his license plate was tracked. However, it remains unclear if he has been officially charged.
To cover funeral and transportation costs, her family has launched two GoFundMe pages.
One fundraiser, titled Help Us Lay Pamela Alcántara Rubiera to Rest, has raised over $1,600 to help bring her body back to the Dominican Republic, where she will be buried next to her younger sister. “We ask for your donation with the assistance of the burial and transference of Pamela Alcántara Rubiera,” the fundraiser states. “We appreciate any collaboration.”
A second GoFundMe campaign, Honoring My Sister’s Final Journey, has collected over $2,700. In the description, a loved one detailed their desperate efforts to find her. “Pamela was missing since Sunday, March 2, 2025. NYPD was called and nothing. We came out with fliers and spread the word. After five days of looking and everything, we found her body.”
Their plea is simple: “Please, anything would help.”
As the investigation continues, her family is left mourning a young woman whose life was taken too soon.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the official cause of death, but Alcantara’s story serves as a chilling reminder of how quickly a situation can turn tragic. For now, her loved ones are left searching for justice and clinging to the memory of a woman whose voice was silenced too soon.
