Sanctuary Cities Thought They Could Take It – Tom Homan Gives Them a Reality Check!

Former acting ICE director and border security expert Tom Homan has issued a stern warning to sanctuary cities, making it clear that shielding illegal immigrants—especially noncriminals—won’t stop enforcement efforts. Instead, he argues, it will bring more federal immigration officers into these communities, leading to even more arrests.

Speaking on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Homan explained that sanctuary policies force ICE to conduct operations in public areas rather than within the secure confines of jails. “The noncriminals are arrested in sanctuary cities because you force us into the community rather than arresting the bad guy in jail,” he said. “And when we find that criminal, he’s most likely with others, and they’re going to go too.”

Border Security Under Trump: A Drastic Drop in Illegal Crossings

Homan praised President Donald Trump for taking aggressive action on border security, stating that illegal crossings have plummeted by 93% since Trump reassumed office. He referred to Trump as “the game changer,” highlighting the administration’s commitment to cracking down on illegal immigration and prioritizing national security.

Despite the progress, Homan acknowledged that much work remains. In Trump’s first week back in the White House, ICE arrested nearly 5,000 illegal immigrants—most with criminal records. The administration’s approach has been to target those with criminal histories first, while also maintaining a strong stance on broader immigration enforcement.

Guantanamo Bay: A New Holding Facility for Migrants?

One of the most controversial measures under discussion is the Trump administration’s proposal to house certain illegal immigrants at Guantanamo Bay. Homan noted that a migrant processing facility has existed there “for decades” and suggested that “the worst of the worst” could be detained at the location.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem assured the public that individuals sent to Guantanamo Bay would not be held indefinitely, emphasizing that Congress will oversee its use to ensure proper legal procedures. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also backed the idea, calling the bay “the perfect place” for criminal illegal immigrants.

Backlash Over Selena Gomez’s Emotional Plea

Homan also took aim at pop star Selena Gomez, who recently posted a tearful video about deportations, saying, “my people are getting attacked.” The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention.

Homan dismissed the concerns, stating that ICE is only targeting “public safety threats” and will continue enforcing immigration laws “without apology.” His comments reflect the administration’s unwavering stance on border control, even in the face of public outcry from high-profile figures.

The Future of Immigration Policy

With the Trump administration doubling down on immigration enforcement, sanctuary cities now face a tough decision: either continue policies that could attract more federal agents or cooperate with ICE to reduce broader enforcement sweeps.

As Homan put it, “If you want to be a sanctuary city, you’re going to get exactly what you don’t want: more agents in the community and more noncriminals arrested.”

With the debate over immigration heating up, the coming months will be crucial in shaping the nation’s policies—and determining how cities respond to the federal government’s intensified crackdown.
