A man who was once addicted to fillers has shared his remarkable transformation after removing all of them, revealing that even those who knew him no longer recognize him.
Alan Jackson, a 28-year-old chef from Carluke, Lanarkshire, had once gone to extreme lengths to alter his appearance. At the height of his filler obsession, he had around 30ml injected into his lips, along with other significant amounts in his cheeks, jaw, nose, and chin.
Alan’s pursuit of perfection reached the point where he learned how to inject fillers himself after clinics refused to treat him further due to safety concerns. Despite the warnings, his addiction drove him to spend nearly £6,000 annually on cosmetic enhancements.
“I just decided it wasn’t really a look I wanted anymore and had spoken about getting it dissolved,” Alan explained. His decision marked a turning point in his life, as he began the process of reversing the years of filler treatments.
Uncertain about what his face would look like post-dissolution, Alan feared that he might need surgery to correct any sagging skin caused by the over-stretching. Fortunately, his skin rebounded, and he didn’t need any additional procedures. “I wasn’t sure how it was going to look and if I would need surgery to lift loose skin I had stretched,” he shared. “Luckily I didn’t.”
His journey started by dissolving the fillers in his cheeks. After seeing the positive change, he returned a week later to remove more. On that visit, he decided to dissolve the filler in his lips as well. “I could see how much better it looked with the cheeks already gone,” Alan said.
Alan’s filler addiction began when he was just 20 years old. After getting his lips done for the first time, he became hooked. To fuel his obsession, he even took a course costing £1,500 to learn how to inject fillers himself. He was so desperate to keep enhancing his look that he would offer salons waivers, promising not to sue if his overfilled lips burst.
While the procedures initially gave Alan a confidence boost, he now admits that the addiction was taking a toll on his health. “I feel 100 percent better now with all the filler removed,” Alan confessed. During his filler phase, he often suffered from headaches and sinus problems, which he now believes were caused by his excessive use of cosmetic injections.
“Every other week I was always complaining of a sore head or sinus problems and people would tell me it was down to too much filler. I wasn’t listening, and since removing all of it, I have never had any of these symptoms again,” he said.
After researching the effects of overusing fillers, Alan discovered that such treatments could indeed make people feel unwell, confirming what he had already suspected. “I did have a look into it and overuse of filler can make you feel ill so I’d definitely say it’s from that,” he admitted.
Today, Alan looks completely different from his filler-filled past. People no longer stare at him for his exaggerated features, and many are stunned to realize that he’s the same person. “The first weekend I went out after dissolving, people kept saying they had to look twice and couldn’t believe the difference,” Alan shared. “Even still now when I show people pictures, they can’t believe that it was once me.”
Alan’s story is a powerful example of how addiction to cosmetic enhancements can deeply affect both physical health and self-perception. His decision to step away from fillers has not only improved his appearance but also dramatically improved his well-being.
