Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is exposing federal waste, igniting outrage and calls for accountability.
‘Iron Mountain’ Madness
Musk spotlighted a shocking federal retirement system: “Federal employee retirements are processed using paper, by hand, in an old limestone mine in Pennsylvania,” he revealed on X. Over 700 workers, 230 feet underground, manually process 10,000 monthly retirements. Musk called the operation a “time warp,” stalled by a creaky mine elevator. “Doesn’t that sound crazy?” he asked reporters.

EPA’s $20 Billion ‘Gold Bar’ Scandal
Inspired by DOGE, the EPA discovered $20 billion in waste: “An extremely disturbing video…showing a Biden EPA appointee talking about ‘tossing gold bars off the Titanic,'” said EPA chief Lee Zeldin on X. Zeldin noted $7 billion went to the Climate United Fund, with billions more parked elsewhere. He vowed to recover the losses and praised DOGE for driving reforms.
FEMA’s $59 Million Hotel Blunder

DOGE exposed FEMA for spending over $59 million on luxury NYC hotels for illegal immigrants: “Sending this money violated the law,” Musk posted on X. Of the total, $19 million covered hotel costs, while the remainder funded food and security. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem quickly reclaimed the funds. President Trump slammed FEMA on Truth Social: “FEMA SHOULD BE TERMINATED!…BIG SAVINGS!”
Pentagon’s Pricey Perks

The Pentagon’s $850 billion budget wasn’t spared: The Air Force spent $1,300 per reheatable coffee cup, totaling $32,000 for 25 cups. A separate audit found Boeing overcharged for soap dispensers by 8,000%, costing $149,072. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth welcomed DOGE oversight, calling it “long overdue.”
USAID’s ‘Sesame Street’ Spending

Sen. Joni Ernst, Senate DOGE Caucus Chair, flagged USAID’s bizarre expenses: USAID granted $20 million for ‘Ahlan Simsim Iraq,’ a Sesame Street-style show promoting inclusion. The agency also sent $900,000 to Gaza’s Bayader Association and $1.5 million for Serbian diversity programs. Ernst labeled these projects “wasteful and dangerous.”

Closing Shot

DOGE’s revelations are rattling Washington and demanding answers. As each scandal surfaces, one question remains: How much more waste is out there?
