Ukraine’s Cruise Missile Just Got Bigger – And It’s Ready to Go All the Way!

Ukraine has unveiled a powerful new weapon in its fight against Russia—the Long Neptune cruise missile. With a staggering range of 600 miles, this advanced missile has already been used in combat, striking deep into Russian territory.

A Game-Changer for Ukraine’s Military

On March 14, the Long Neptune reportedly targeted an oil refinery in Tuapse, Russia, a facility nearly 300 miles from Ukraine’s front line. The attack is part of a larger Ukrainian strategy aimed at crippling Russia’s energy infrastructure. Last year, similar strikes cut Russian oil production by 10%.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the missile’s success, stating:
“We have significant results. Long Neptune has been tested and successfully used in combat. A new Ukrainian missile, an accurate strike. The range is a thousand kilometers.”

That distance—620 miles—puts countless Russian military and industrial targets within reach. This capability significantly expands Ukraine’s ability to wage long-range warfare without relying solely on Western-supplied munitions.

The Evolution of Neptune

The Long Neptune is an upgraded version of Ukraine’s Neptune anti-ship missile, the same weapon that famously sank the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s flagship, Moskva, in April 2022. The new variant is longer, carrying more fuel, which extends its range far beyond the 120-mile standard Neptune.

This missile has been in development for years, but its recent deployment marks a major shift in Ukraine’s ability to strike deep into Russian-held territory. It also aligns with Zelensky’s ambitious plan to manufacture 100,000 long-range munitions by 2025. This includes cruise missiles and drones capable of flying over 1,000 miles.

Independence from Western Weapons

For Ukraine, self-reliance is key. The war has shown how fragile international military support can be. While the U.S. and Europe have supplied Ukraine with weapons, future aid remains uncertain. Under former President Donald Trump, U.S. support wavered, and Europe’s missile production capacity is limited.

The Long Neptune helps fill that gap. Stronger than makeshift drones—some of which are modified commercial aircraft—this missile gives Ukraine a powerful, homegrown option for deep strikes.

More Weapons on the Way

Ukraine isn’t stopping with Long Neptune. Air-launched glide bombs and ground-launched ballistic missiles are also in development. This growing arsenal signals that Ukraine is preparing for the war to continue despite increasing international pressure for a ceasefire.

Even as Trump pressures Ukraine to accept a potential U.S.-brokered ceasefire favoring Russia, Zelensky’s government is focused on ramping up its own firepower. The new weapons make one thing clear: Ukraine is ready to keep fighting—and striking deep into Russian territory—for as long as it takes.
