A Wisconsin woman walked into a dealership expecting an oil change. What she got instead was a racial slur—and then, unexpectedly, a brand-new car.
Makayla Starks took her vehicle to Kunes Buick GMC earlier this month. But when she got it back, something disgusting was written on the oil change sticker. An employee had left a racist remark.

The backlash was swift. The worker responsible was fired. But the damage had already been done.
A Story That Traveled 900 Miles
Word of the incident spread fast. It didn’t just make headlines in Wisconsin—it reached another dealership nearly 900 miles away in New York.
That’s where Ramzey Rizk, owner of Family Nissan, stepped in. Instead of just sympathizing, he did something no one expected.
He gave Starks a brand-new, all-electric Nissan Leaf.
No More Oil Changes Ever Again
“We were frustrated, we were upset,” Rizk admitted. “The team here at Family Nissan actually pushed me to call FOX6.”
But Rizk wasn’t just giving away any car. He chose an electric vehicle for one reason:
“It wasn’t so much about giving her a car,” he said. “It was about giving her an electric car that doesn’t need any more oil changes ever again.”
Grateful, But Still Shocked
For Starks, the past few weeks have been a rollercoaster. The racist incident left her hurt—but the unexpected gift brought some relief.
“The incident with the oil change sticker happened, so that was pretty painful and harmful,” she told WITI. “The universe shows up in kind of strange ways. And I think the silver lining is that I’m unexpectedly getting a car out of all of this, which would be very helpful for my family.”
Her fiancé, Joey Keopp, was just as stunned. “I don’t think anybody saw anything like a vehicle being gifted coming out of this,” he said.
Her attorney, William Sulton, called it “an act of kindness”—one that will be paid forward.
Praise for Family Nissan
The dealership’s gesture didn’t go unnoticed. When Family Nissan posted about the story on Facebook, positive comments poured in.
“Very thoughtful and kind of Family Nissan, which isn’t something new—they are well known for giving back,” one person wrote.
“Very nice approach from a good man,” another added.
On Her Way to New York
Starks is now preparing to fly to New York to pick up her new Nissan Leaf. As for her old car? She won’t be keeping it.
Meanwhile, Kunes Buick GMC says they’re still investigating the situation.
The dealership did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
