Joe Rogan has thrown his weight behind Elon Musk, calling him a “super genius” and defending his aggressive cuts to federal spending. Musk, now at the helm of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been slashing budgets across multiple agencies—a move Rogan claims is “good for everybody.”
On Tuesday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the popular podcaster took aim at critics, particularly Democrats, who have raised concerns about Musk’s influence over sensitive U.S. government operations. They argue his access to systems like the Treasury Department’s payment infrastructure gives him unprecedented power. But Rogan dismissed those concerns, emphasizing Musk’s immense wealth.
“He has $400 billion, he’s not going to steal your money. I’m telling you he’s not going to steal your money. I’m telling you, that’s not what he’s doing,” Rogan insisted. Musk later shared the clip on X, adding the caption, “The party is just getting started.”

Rogan didn’t stop there. He went on to frame Musk as a genius taking on entrenched corruption.
“He’s a super genius that’s been f—ed with. And when you’ve been f—ed with by these nitwits that hide behind 3-letter agencies and you’re dealing with one of the smartest people alive and he helps Donald Trump get into office and he goes, ‘I want to find out what kind of corruption is really around,’” he said.
Then came his sharpest line: “You f—ed up and picked the wrong psychopath on the spectrum.”
Rogan suggested that Musk’s relentless approach to uncovering waste and corruption in government would ultimately benefit the public.
“He’s gonna hunt you down, he’s going to find out what’s going on and that’s good. That’s good for everybody. That’s how you should be looking at this, like ‘Wow, we have a brilliant mind that is examining these really f—ing corrupt and goofy systems and bringing in a bunch of psychopath wizards.’”

Musk, now a “special government employee” under President Trump’s administration, leads DOGE with the mission of cutting waste, fraud, and excessive spending. Despite its official-sounding name, DOGE is not a permanent federal department—it’s a temporary initiative created to streamline government costs.
But not everyone is convinced Musk is the right person for the job. Critics point out that he wasn’t elected and yet is making sweeping changes to federal agencies, including mass layoffs without congressional approval.

Opposition has grown as DOGE has gutted entire government programs. Among its most controversial moves: shutting down the U.S. Agency for International Development, scrapping a planned museum exhibit honoring former COVID czar Anthony Fauci, and canceling expensive news subscriptions for federal offices.
Musk recently revealed that DOGE has terminated 89 contracts with the Department of Education, saving more than $881 million. The department has also slashed 29 diversity, equity, and inclusion programs that cost a total of around $101 million.

But not all of DOGE’s efforts have gone unchallenged. Federal judges have put legal roadblocks in place, temporarily halting some of the Musk-led cost-cutting measures. A series of lawsuits are also in motion, with the White House planning to appeal.
Looking ahead, DOGE is expected to take aim at the Pentagon, searching for inefficiencies in defense spending. The agency is also investigating potential Social Security fraud, which could lead to even more sweeping reforms.
Musk’s power appears to be growing. On Tuesday, he met with President Trump in the Oval Office, where he was reportedly given even broader authority to restructure the government. The president has ordered DOGE to fire non-essential federal employees and shut down entire agencies deemed unnecessary.
An executive order previewed by The Post suggests these cuts will not apply to national security, public safety, law enforcement, or immigration enforcement personnel. But for everyone else, the shake-up is just beginning.
With Musk in control of government efficiency, his supporters see a bold new direction. His critics see unchecked power. Either way, the billionaire is far from done.
