“Illegals Were Pouring In… Until He Took Control – Now It’s a Whole New Game!

The number of illegal border crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border has dropped dramatically since President Trump returned to the White House, according to U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks. In an interview on Fox & Friends, Banks revealed that illegal crossings have decreased by 90% since January 21, the day after Trump’s inauguration.

“We know how to secure the border,” Banks stated. “All we needed was a president that was going to empower us — a strong leader like President Trump — and a secretary like Secretary Noem that knows exactly what we need to do to secure the border.”

Along with fewer crossings, Banks reported that arrests and prosecutions of criminal migrants have surged by 52%. However, he did not provide exact figures or specify the time period for comparison. Despite this, data from the Texas Department of Public Safety supports his claims, showing a significant drop in crossings into Texas.

On February 5, Border Patrol encountered just 396 illegal migrants across five major sectors in Texas: El Paso, Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, and Big Bend. This is a stark contrast to the thousands who crossed daily under the previous administration. Del Rio alone saw a flood of migrants in September 2021, when more than 14,000 Haitian migrants arrived within days.

The number of migrants held in U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody has also plummeted. According to figures obtained by The Post, only 1,500 illegal immigrants are currently in CBP detention. This is a sharp decline from the 10,000 detained in June of last year—a staggering 500% decrease.

Border agents credit the turnaround to the Trump administration’s aggressive enforcement policies.

“No other President has ever enforced our nation’s borders like President Trump,” one Border Patrol agent told The Post.

Another agent added, “The law is finally being enforced once again. Catch and release is over and smugglers are being forced to figure out new ways to get people in.”

Crackdowns Expand to Sanctuary Cities

Beyond the border, the administration has launched major deportation operations in liberal-leaning sanctuary cities, including New York City. More than 7,200 illegal migrants have been arrested nationwide in just nine days as part of the crackdown.

The impact is already visible in New York. Migrant arrivals have slowed significantly, with just 200 newcomers entering the city’s shelter system last week. This is a sharp decline from the 600 who arrived weekly around the time of the presidential election.

The total number of migrants in city-funded shelters now stands at 46,000—down 12,000 from November.

A Border Patrol agent explained why the changes are happening so fast:

“I think because of the deportation flights. It only takes a few to get back to know they won’t get let go anymore. They knew the law wasn’t being enforced. Now, they know this administration wasn’t just talking. There are consequences.”

Addressing Concerns Over Targeting Migrants

While critics have accused federal agents of unfairly targeting families and vulnerable individuals, Banks dismissed the claims as misinformation.

“It’s just nonsense. It’s rhetoric that we’re targeting … school buses and children. It’s absurd. And if you want to talk about abuelas, my abuela is a naturalized citizen from Mexico,” he said.

“We’re certainly not targeting abuelas, we’re not targeting people who are in this country legally and don’t have the authority to go after someone who’s in this country legally,” he added. “We’re targeting criminals, and those who have broken the law by entering the country illegally.”

With border security now a top priority, officials on the frontlines say the message is clear: illegal crossings and lax enforcement are no longer tolerated. The dramatic drop in migrant numbers suggests that word is spreading fast.
