The video of the little girl, which quickly circulated online, also deeply affected New York City Councilman Robert Holden. “It’s heartbreaking. I have a 2-year-old grandson and a 5-year-old granddaughter. It makes my blood boil. We can only imagine how much this poor kid suffered,” said Holden, who represents a city grappling with the challenges of migrant influx. “No civilized person in his right mind could imagine this. The solution is to secure the border – the children are the innocent victims here,” he added.

Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn), who attributed the tragedy to the current administration’s lax border policies. “It is heartbreaking, and this should never be encouraged by our government. Sadly, the Biden administration’s policies have only incentivized this and have led to child trafficking, sex trafficking, and over 300,000 children missing,” Malliotakis said.
