A 12-year-old boy tragically passed away in Cardiff, just weeks after starting a new school term. His body was discovered in his bedroom by a family member, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. Police are treating the incident as “unexplained.”

Marc Aguilar was found in his bedroom on September 14, with a family member discovering him unresponsive on the floor. Attempts to save the boy were made, but sadly, he was declared dead at the scene. The inquest revealed that a ligature was found near Marc when he was discovered.

His cousin, Daniel Arthur, shared the family’s devastation. “What would’ve been such a beautiful day ended in catastrophic circumstances,” Arthur said. “Our little cousin Marc passed away aged 12. The family are truly heartbroken.”

Marc’s school, Ysgol Bro Edern, also mourned the loss of the young student. The school described him as a “popular and likeable pupil,” who had excelled in sports and had many friends. “It is with great sadness that we announce that one of our pupils passed away suddenly over the weekend,” the school said in a statement. “Marc Aguilar was a popular and likeable pupil and a keen sportsman. He had many friends at Bro Edern and he will be missed sorely.”

Though police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances, Marc’s death continues to be treated as “unexplained.” A spokesperson for South Wales Police expressed sympathy for those close to Marc, saying, “Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
